Beds, 3 Baths, 0 Ghosts, Amityville Horror House Up for Sale

"The only horror there is the fact that there were some murders". The couple claimed to have witnessed paranormal events such as unusual sounds, voices and green slime oozing from the walls.

Obviously made to cash in on the success of the 1973 blockbuster The Exorcist, The Amityville Horror even includes a priest (portrayed by Oscar-winner Rod Steiger), who intervenes in an attempt to rid the home of its supposed evil spirits. The Amityville home was made famous when it was the subject of Jay Anson's 1977 book, The Amityville Horror: A True Story.

It's a five-bedroom Dutch Colonial with a finished basement - and it's on the market for $850,000.

Four owners have lived in and left their mark on the 5,000-square-foot home on the Amityville River since Ronald DeFeo killed his parents, two brothers, and two sisters with a high-powered rifle while they were sleeping on November 13, 1974. Finally, at 6 p.m., he called a friend saying that someone broke into the family home, killing everyone.
