Expert on supernatural to unveil ghosts inside Milford City Hall

MILFORD, Conn. If the walls of City Hall could talk, they would likely have some ghost stories to tell.

And residents will have the chance to hear all about that supernatural side of the 100-year-old building Friday during a history talk by Cindy Wolfe Boynton, a well-known area journalist, author, expert on the supernatural and leader and founder of Spirits of Milford Ghost Walks.

Much has been said and celebrated about the building during this anniversary year, including about the building’s stunning architecture and the history of a fire that destroyed the original building 101 years ago — but little has ever been revealed about the haunted side. The free presentation will take place at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

City Hall was rededicated 100 years ago in 1916 after being destroyed by fire in February 1915.

It is said in Milford history books that it was a cold, windy night when “the local fire department fought desperately, but a high wind defeated all attempts to check the blaze,” according to City Hall’s website.

According to more Milford history provided on the website, “more than a thousand people gathered beneath lowering skies to participate in the ceremony of the laying of the cornerstone for Milford’s New Town Hall.”
