COMMUNITY COLUMNIST: Keep an open mind when talking to ghosts

There are many different ways to communicate

Over the past two decades, I have seen and visited some of the most haunted locations in Canada and the U.S. in search of ghosts and spooky spectres. From spending the night at the infamously haunted Lizzie Borden House to standing on the legendary property of the Amityville Horror house, my spooky journeys have taken me all over.

Flashlight in hand and an open mind to guide the way, my career delves into the mysterious and usual, examining for proof of the paranormal. Every Haunted Hamilton event, every creepy location and every new group of guests brings amazing new opportunities to communicate with ghosts (or at least attempt to) in so many amazing and different ways.

The one thing I take away from each investigation is the realization there are many different ways to communicate with ghosts. Haunted Hamilton has invested almost 20 years worth of time educating ourselves on choosing the right equipment for the right kind of spirit communication. The most used of these are our EMF (electro magnetic field) meters, the Ovilus 5 (digital phonetic translator, converting frequencies to audible words), a Ghost Box (digital device that scans backwards through radio frequencies to allow spirit voices to penetrate through) and several night vision cameras using infrared and full spectrum lights to see and record in complete darkness. There are a wide variety of other technical tools on the paranormal market, all ranging from $20 right up to well over $500. It really just comes down to how much time, money and effort you want to put into your ultimate search for ghosts.
