Eerie images capture disused RAF base

Ghostly footage has emerged of a former RAF base that is also rumoured to have its fair share of hauntings.

The footage of RAF Binbrook shows a series of photos from inside the derelict buildings which stand on the base - many showing crumbling walls and disused objects inside, including a car tyre.

The base was closed in the 1990s and the control tower and fire station at the site was demolished in 1995. By 2012 most of the accommodation blocks had been demolished.

Some of the hangars and offices are now used for businesses.

The station first opened in 1940 during the Second World War. It was then closed in 1942 when three new runways were built and then it reopened a year later when it was the home of the Royal Australian Air Force.

Christopher Morris, co-founder of Paranormal Friends, a paranormal investigation group, has been on several ghost hunts at RAF Binbrook.

He said it had a very eerie feeling and didn't fail to live up to its reputation.

"One of the highlights, quite literally, took place in what is now the theatre in the former Sergeants' mess when we appeared to establish contact with a young girl from the time that this was a plague village.
