Residents talk local haunts around Riverside Cemetery

From haunted hotels and theaters to a possible apparition that walks the streets, there are numerous ghost stories of Seguin.

One of those is the tale of the “headless man of Milam Street.”

On a moonlit night, its been rumored a figure walks from the city’s oldest graveyard heading north through town, local history columnist Floyd McKee said.

“Milan Street is a quiet street except when the headless ghost comes out,” he said.” No one knows why he has no head. The myth is that he is a Confederate soldier whose head was shot off by a cannon ball. The remainder of his body was shipped home by train.”

As local legend goes, he walks from the cemetery and heads north on Milam Street, possible headed to the old train depot, McKee said.
