Within the popular imagination, few items are so often connected with the occult and communicating with the other side than the Ouija board.
The sinister boards were designed as a parlour game and later distributed by major board games manufacturer Hasbro as 'The Spirit Board'.
One of the first mentions of the board, on which 'users' move a dial called a 'planchette' across a board featuring numbers and letters, appears to have been in the late 19th Century.
